Former Skeem Saam and The Lion King actor Nicholas Nkuna is among the most latest star to become listed on popular Afrikaans soapie 7de Laan, where he'll play the role of a charming business owner who has Hillside in a tizz.

7de Laan publicist Rosa-Marie Erasmus confirmed Nicholas'new role to TshisaLIVE and said he will make his on-screen debut on Tuesday, August 1.

 

"Nicholas is not just a talented actor but in addition an incredible singer and performer. We can't wait to generally share his exceptional performance with the 7de Laan fans as he portrays the role of Fikani Chauke," Rosa-Marie added in a statement.

Nicholas has been shooting with the soapie for weeks and told TshisaLIVE that if getting over some initial difficulties, he was loving his time on set.

 

"It's a thrilling new challenge that's really stretched me being an actor. I was unsure about time for a soapie (after Skeem Saam) but this move felt right and I have already been welcomed with open arms," he said.

Nicholas said the hardest area of the show was learning how to speak more Afrikaans.

 

"I knew a bit of Afrikaans planning nonetheless it on an entire new level. I will have a tutor who's teaching me Afrikaans in order that I'm not lost. All I will say is thank heavens for English scripts," he said.

Nicholas follows in the footsteps of fellow musician and actor KB Motsilanyane who joined 7de Laan in February.

He explained that the pair had spoken on set but were hoping not to only appear together more on screen but possibly also work with new music together.
